You’ve done a lots of cool stuff in your career. Now, do more!

Do you see the last part of your career filled with energy and focus to do more? But maybe you feel like you’re blazing that trail alone. And you’d like to find your tribe.

If you’re nodding yes, then you’re the perfect candidate for the Mission-On! Late Career Alliance, or MOLCA. (Note “late career” is a life-phase, it’s not about job hunting.)

Think of it as a mastermind group for your late career!

You’re here for a reason

MOLCA helps you go from where you are now—hopeful, but uncertain and a bit alone—to a point where you feel confident and connected, making your late career mark. We have a success path ready for you with milestones, focus, and actions you need to take!

Create your account, then answer a few questions about your availability (to help us connect you with peers more effectively).

Key ingredients

MOLCA works by helping you establish a mission, objective or goal, for this part of your late career. Then we connect you with peers who are also doing more in their late career and add some structure so you can help each other stay on track.

With group meetings (ranging from informal “campfires” to formal accountability teams), online discussion, and micro-courses, you traverse a path to success built on:

  • Innovation: continuing to surprise and challenge ourselves
  • Impact and legacy: leveraging, pivoting or otherwise creating our way to impact
  • Career stories: crafting the most compelling career narrative

Take the opportunity to join with others who are optimistic and dedicated.

Motivation and community

Since everyone in the community is “Working On a Thing,” you feel motivated and connected. Since our actions “rub off’ on others, surrounding yourself with peers accomplishing their goals means you’re more likely to accomplish yours too.

Peers also bring each other insights from their own knowledge, experience and skills.

Tools and skills

MO!LCA curates knowledge and skills to help you chart a successful path through late career. Tools include “design thinking,” to help you cultivate your curiosity, get unstuck, and spark innovation; health span tips that energize your path; resilience and behaviour change frameworks; and mindset and cultural insights, among others.

Investing in yourself

What’s it worth to you, navigating from a position of being hopeful, but uncertain and a bit alone, to a position of feeling confident and connected in making your late career mark with new friends? This is your last career chapter, time to make a real commitment.

To help you do that (and filter out tire-kickers), there’s a modest membership fee  (similar to the cost of a lower-end streaming service; fee suspended until the beta concludes).

It’s impossible to predict the future, but once you take action,
you change the future that’s possible.

What’s included in the membership:

A success path made up of:

    • Joining with peers via accountability teams that meet regularly to help you stay on track
    • Tools to navigate peer meetings in a relaxed, productive way
    • Monthly supplemental resources such as micro-courses, articles, challenges
    • Online platform to stay in touch through informal meetings and online discussion
    • A short weekly bulletin
    • Possibility (but not guarantee) of in-person meetings

But it’s not for everyone

It’s probably not for you if:

– You mainly just need to find a job
– You’re uncomfortable with a structured, online meetings
– You can’t afford a modest fee
– You don’t have access to hardware and software necessary to join internet-based meetings and platforms
– You haven’t hit your 50s yet
– You’re retired

It’s for you…

It IS for you if you’re looking for community and inspiration to do more in your late career. Join with peers to travel the path to confidence and connection, making your late career mark!

During the Beta this spring and early summer there’s no monthly fee, in exchange for your input on making the community the best it can be.

Origins

I’m Ann Thorpe, facilitator, partnership manager, design thinker and convenor of MOLCA. At 59, I’m a climber. Literally, that’s me at the climbing gym.

Expectations, experiences, and capabilities of late career are not what they used to be. Whether you’re 58 or 64, you probably feel more like you’re 40. And there’s more you want to do. With work, social and health trends changing, there’s more opportunity, but also uncertainty.

The ‘mission’ for MOLCA is to connect fellow travellers navigating their late careers and help them grow and do more. For me, the Late Career Alliance emerges from several places:

  • A sense that there are lots of people interested in this late career phase but who don’t have a place to find and connect with peers
  • Worry about a world facing big challenges

Our generation is facing uncharted territory in late career, but I’m convinced it has huge scope for innovation and reinvention, both personally and professionally. I hope you’ll join me in this adventure!
